Professor Sevilay Özmen joins the Center as a pathology specialist

Professor Sevilay Özmen has begun working at the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology as a specialist in pathology.

Education and academic career

• 1986–1995: studied at the Faculty of Medicine of Atatürk University.
• 2002–2007: completed residency training in medical pathology at the Faculty of Medicine of Atatürk University.
• 2017: appointed assistant professor; in 2021 she was awarded the academic title of docent (Doçent).
• She currently continues her academic, scientific and teaching work as a professor in the Department of Medical Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine of Atatürk University.

Professional experience

Professor Özmen has more than 17 years of clinical, scientific and teaching experience in the field of pathology.

Main areas of work at the Center

• histological and immunohistochemical diagnosis of oncological diseases;
• expert assessment of complex and disputed morphological cases;
• molecular pathology, biomarkers and expression analysis;
• pathology of lung tumours, neuroendocrine carcinomas and tumour angiogenesis;
• introduction of modern international diagnostic standards;
• participation in multidisciplinary consultations;
• practical sessions and master classes for pathologists and young specialists;
• scientific research and international projects.

Scientific activity

Professor Özmen is the author of more than 250 scientific works and takes an active part in international scientific journals, professional associations and research projects.
