This page lists every cookie and browser storage item this website uses, in plain terms, and is kept up to date with what the site actually does.
1. WHAT COOKIES ARE
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to store and then reads back later. Browsers also offer similar storage that a site's own code reads and writes directly — localStorage and sessionStorage. This site uses both, so both are listed below.
2. COOKIES THAT ARE ALWAYS SET (STRICTLY NECESSARY)
These keep the site working and cannot be switched off individually.
- laravel-session — keeps you recognised as the same visitor while you move between pages. HttpOnly. Lifetime: 2 hours.
- XSRF-TOKEN — protects forms on this site, such as the contact form, from being submitted by another site on your behalf. Lifetime: 2 hours.
- cc_cookie_consent — remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies, so we do not ask on every visit. Lifetime: 180 days.
3. COOKIES SET ONLY IF YOU AGREE (ANALYTICS)
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to see which pages are useful and where visitors get stuck. It is off by default and only loads after you choose "Accept analytics cookies" in the cookie banner or in "Cookie preferences" (footer of every page).
- _ga — distinguishes visitors for Google Analytics reporting. Lifetime: 2 years.
- _ga_VBBN0ETDZ2 — holds Google Analytics session state for this site. Lifetime: 2 years.
These are set by Google once you agree, not directly by us. Declining means neither is set and no analytics data is collected for your visit.
4. BROWSER STORAGE WE USE (NOT COOKIES)
Not cookies — not sent to our server — but listed here because they store information on your device in a similar way.
- cancercenter_locale (localStorage) — remembers which of the seven site languages you last chose.
- cancercenter_scam_notice_until (localStorage) — remembers that you dismissed the fraud-warning banner about impersonation scams, for 30 days.
- cancercenter_gate_seen (sessionStorage) — remembers that you have already seen the emergency-routing question, for the rest of this browser tab's session only.
5. HOW TO CONTROL COOKIES IN YOUR BROWSER
Change or withdraw your analytics consent at any time using "Cookie preferences" in the footer. Every browser also lets you view, block, or delete cookies and site storage generally: look in Settings under "Privacy and security" for "Cookies and site data" (the exact name varies by browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge each phrase it slightly differently). You can usually block third-party cookies while a site keeps working, block all cookies, or delete cookies already stored. Blocking or deleting this site's cookies will not stop it working, but it will forget your language and your cookie choice.
6. YOUR RIGHTS, AND HOW TO RAISE A CONCERN
This page covers cookies and browser storage only. For who operates this website, what personal data the contact form collects, your rights over that data, and how to raise a complaint, see our Privacy Policy.
7. CHANGES TO THIS PAGE
If the cookies or storage this site uses change, this page is updated to match before that change goes live.
