Since May 2026 the center has worked as part of the Gustave Roussy International network. How the partnership was built, what it covers, and what it means for patients.
Leading European Cancer Center. Transforming science into cure.
Cancer Center Uzbekistan works in partnership with Gustave Roussy, one of Europe's leading cancer institutes, and since 20 May 2026 has operated as a Gustave Roussy International – Uzbekistan hospital.
The partnership is a practical result of healthcare cooperation between Uzbekistan and France. Its purpose is not a name. It is to bring international standards of cancer care, training, and research to the patients treated here.

How the partnership was built

In May 2025 the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Gustave Roussy discussed organising management and clinical processes at the center's new complex in line with international standards.

In September 2025 a cooperation agreement was signed between Gustave Roussy and the center. It covered the exchange of expertise, the training of specialists, the introduction of advanced diagnostic and treatment methods, and the development of the center's work to an international level.

On 19 January 2026, at the French Healthcare Business Forum in Paris, the Ministry of Health and Gustave Roussy signed an agreement to integrate the center into the Gustave Roussy international network under the name Gustave Roussy International Uzbekistan, and to develop medical exchange and structured training programmes. This followed the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to France.

On 20 May 2026 the project was formally opened in Tashkent, and the center began working under the Gustave Roussy International Uzbekistan name.

The opening was attended by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Eldor Adilov; a French delegation led by Professor Fabrice Barlesi, Director General of Gustave Roussy; international experts; deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis; and specialists in oncology. Uzbekistan's Ambassador to France, Nodir Ganiev, took part online, and France's Ambassador to Uzbekistan attended in person.

Gustave Roussy is internationally recognised for cancer diagnosis and treatment, research, innovation, and the training of specialists. The work here goes well beyond adopting a name:

A long-term commitment
Gustave Roussy International shares not only clinical experience but what it has learned about running medical institutions: quality control, education, research, and innovation. Gustave Roussy has named Uzbekistan among the significant international projects in its institutional development strategy for 2026-2030, and intends this to be a stable, long-term partnership.
