International internship at Gustave Roussy
Uzbek medical oncologists and a molecular diagnostics biologist are taking part in a training and practice internship at France's Gustave Roussy cancer center from 5 to 16 October. The aim is to study international experience and apply it in Uzbekistan's oncology practice.
Specialists from Uzbekistan, medical oncologists and a medical biologist in molecular diagnostics, are taking part in a training and practice internship at Gustave Roussy, one of France's leading oncology centers, from 5 to 16 October.
During the internship the specialists are getting closely acquainted with the center's clinical and laboratory work, pathomorphology, molecular and genetic diagnostics, the system of managing oncology patients, and the multidisciplinary approach.

- attendance at MDT (multidisciplinary tumor board) meetings in various fields and discussion of clinical cases
First days
On the first day, under Professor Cécile Badoual, head of the Department of Medical Biology and Pathology at Gustave Roussy, the visitors learned about the work of the laboratory and pathomorphology service. They studied laboratory diagnostic processes, the automated sample processing system and the organization of molecular and genetic testing.
They also attended an MDT meeting on sarcomas and observed how a multidisciplinary team discusses many clinical cases in a short time.
Meetings are also planned with Professor Fabrice Barlesi, Director General of Gustave Roussy, and with leading professors and specialists of the center in various fields.
Purpose
The main goal of the internship is to study advanced international experience in organizing modern oncology care, molecular diagnostics, Precision Medicine and the multidisciplinary approach, and to apply it in Uzbekistan's oncology practice in the future.
