Certified Training Course Launched for Oncology Hospital Leaders

For the first time in Uzbekistan’s oncology system, the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology is holding a certified advanced-training course for the heads of oncology institutions. The course, part of the “Development of Hospital Leaders” programme, is organised in cooperation with HEALTH MANAGMENT and Turkey’s Strategic Research Center.

Module I, “Core Competencies in Hospital Management,” runs from 7 to 10 September 2026 at the Center in Tashkent, daily from 09:00 to 17:00, with registration opening at 08:30 on 7 September. The course totals 30 academic hours and is conducted in Turkish with consecutive interpretation into Uzbek and Russian.

The training aims to develop leaders’ practical competencies in modern management, leadership, strategic decision-making, the efficient use of resources, and the coordination of financial and clinical processes.

Programme focus

• the role of oncology institutions within the healthcare system;
• modern hospital management and leadership principles, effective team management and communication;
• managing the patient’s clinical pathway: diagnosis → pathology → MDT → treatment → follow-up;
• coordinating hospital capacity, patient flow and workload;
• quality of oncology care and key performance indicators (KPIs);
• financial management, high-cost medicines and the rational allocation of resources;
• multidisciplinary team (MDT) management, the “Cancer” registry information system and digitalisation;
• patient rights, medical ethics and the leader’s social responsibility.

Sessions are led by leading Turkish specialists in healthcare management: Prof. Dr. Sedat Bostan, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Erdem, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Nurullah Kurutkan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yasin Yeşildağ. Alongside lectures, the training includes practical seminars, group discussions, case studies and role plays. Participants who meet the attendance and assessment requirements receive a “Core Competencies in Hospital Management” certificate. Directors of all regional branches of the Center are required to take part in full.
