Scientific Council holds its sixth meeting at the Center
The Center held the sixth meeting of its Scientific Council, reviewing the work of its research laboratory, the improvement of lung-cancer care in the regional branches, and an early-phase clinical trial.
The sixth meeting of the Scientific Council of the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology (RIOvaRIATM) was held on 21 June. Council members, leading specialists and research staff took part.
The following items were considered:
- The work of the Center's research laboratory, with analysis, problems and proposals. Presented by the head of the research laboratory, Prof. Z.M. Enikeeva.
- Improving the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer in the regional branches coordinated by the Center. Presented by thoracic department physician O.D. Toychiyev.
- Preliminary information on the Phase I clinical trial of the drug ZE94-0605 (anti-CD key) in patients with solid tumours in whom treatment had shown no effect. Presented by the head of the chemotherapy department, Dr.Sci. S.V. Kamishov.
- Discussion of various matters.
During the meeting, participants exchanged views on current issues and put forward practical proposals.
In conclusion, important tasks were set for improving the effectiveness of the Center's work and for developing palliative care.
