Head and Neck Surgical Oncology

Procedures include thyroidectomy, parotidectomy, laryngectomy, neck dissection, and upper or lower jaw resection. The department also removes nasal, sinus, skin, and soft-tissue tumours and performs reconstructive surgery.

The department treats tumours of the thyroid and salivary glands, tongue, cheeks, jaws, larynx, hypopharynx, oropharynx, and nasopharynx. Its scope also includes the nose, paranasal sinuses, external auditory canal, and regional skin and soft tissues.
Clinical approach
Available techniques include CO2 laser surgery for laryngeal and hypopharyngeal tumours, endoscopic surgery for nasal and sinus tumours, and microsurgical reconstruction. Both open and endoscopic approaches are used for nasal and paranasal sinus tumour removal.
